The complaint regards a FB post where the Cllr made comments about the complainant character and they felt it was rude, humiliating and borders on defamation. |
The Independent Person reviewed the complaint submitted and concluded from those investigations that the case is “not in scope” as the comments were not addressed to the complainant.
However, it was recommended that the Cllr familiarise themselves with some guidance on de-escalation techniques. |

The complaint is regarding a letter which has been shared by 2 Councillors regarding changes proposed by the Boundary Commission. The complainant alleges the communication is misleading. |
The Deputy Monitoring officer and Independent Person reviewed the complaint submitted, the Councillors response, and the relevant Code of Conduct.
The conclusion from those investigations is that the councillors' responses focus on the provisional nature of the writing in their leaflet (the use of 'could', 'worst case scenario' etc). The complaint, however, has a focus on the accuracy of the information on the review processes involved.
However, the Independent Persons recommended that Council Officers provide more clarity on the process. |
